Do you have a feel-good thermostat?

I broke mine

A couple years back, I read a book that proposed an interesting thesis.

It suggests that our ONE AND ONLY PROBLEM is not allowing our lives to become as good as we desire.

It seems we have an inner thermostat that limits how much goodness we can accept.

When things are going well, it's almost as if a self-destruct button is activated, pulling us back to a more familiar and comfortable state of being.

This behaviour is similar to how electrons behave in atomic orbits, always tending to fall back to a state of energy preservation.

While this may sound random, I believe if you ponder this idea, you'll likely find at least one area of your life where it holds true.

Often, we unconsciously sabotage ourselves just when things are about to improve.

So, what's happening here?

Let's explore the notion that the universe is like a hologram, reflecting our internal state outwardly.

A positive inner state leads to more positive external circumstances.

This inner state is influenced by the stories we tell ourselves in our minds and the sensations we experience in our bodies.

This is where many people encounter a block.

They struggle to handle too much positive energy within themselves.

Observe how people deflect compliments, not accepting them with high vibrations but rather dismissing or downplaying the positivity.

It's rare to see someone genuinely appreciating the praise without feeling prideful and reactive.

Like it’s not inflating their persona but confirms their soul.

Another example is when someone experiences success or happiness, but soon a voice inside questions the validity of the happiness and anxiety arises, leading them back to a more familiar and less positive state.

This pattern can lead to relationship issues and other challenges.

I’ve seen this play out multiple times in my life and even more in the people around me.

However, it doesn't have to be this way.

Meditation is a superpower for this, but I’ll give you a simple, practical tool to work on this instead.

When you feel negative sensations associated with a negative story about what's happening around you, pause and ask yourself: "What good thing am I preventing from entering my life right now?" and then relax. Let go.

Pay attention to the sensations that arise,

This could be warmth in your chest,

a rush of excitement or

a pleasant sensation in your throat.

I’d love to hear about your experience.

Until then, take care!
