The Pain Teacher
And his message...
Pain is a teacher.
It carries a message.
It starts as a whisper and if ignored, turns into a scream.
Normally that message is to slow tf down and recalibrate.
The body whispers that it needs nurture,
Then it tends to speak a little bit louder,
If not listened to,
It will scream.
And if you then mask the symptoms through medication or escapism…
It will make sure that you can’t do but listen to it.
Whether that is a serious injury or chronic illness.
Both of which most of the time, can be prevented.
Simply if we train ourselves to listen to the whispers.
I get it
This is the epitome of easier said than done.
It takes practice, and a regulated nervous system…
Which also takes a lot of practice… and sensitivity.
The simplest example is athletes dismantling themselves without appropriate rest or strategies for rejuvenation.
You can’t have the yang without the yin.
You may be able to pull it off for a few weeks,
maybe months, but then it becomes a dangerous game.
The longer the see-saw has swung in one direction, the more it will need to do so in the other.
So back to the original point,
pain is a teacher and carries a message.
That message is normally to slow down and recalibrate.
The recalibration.
For whatever reason,
we condition ourselves to seek things outside of ourselves to prove our own worth.
This is called object referral.
This is the essence of seeking validation, love and approval outside of ourselves simply because we’re incapable of covering these needs ourselves.
As you can imagine and have probably experienced…
This is an endless dog chase, which can only cease to be through a series of painful awakenings or radical introspection, which breeds awareness.
It is very simple just not easy.
We are all chasing a certain feeling.
We want to be a certain way, and we think that obtaining things outside ourselves will lead to that way of being.
Get the jacked body, get the attention, respect and approval.
Get professional status and money, and feel approval for the first time.
But this puts us in a perpetual cycle of time.
Where the differential between where we are and where we want to go exists.
And that difference is the suffering contained in the pain.

While we have been conditioned to think:
Get the thing then feel the way we want.
We can gradually learn to shift to
Feel the way you want now, naturally stop caring about the thing, get it eventually anyway.

Another way to approach this and decipher pain’s teachings is to think of how we are approaching the movement of energy in said situation.
Is energy expanding from our center.
Is the activity that we are immersing ourselves into, a natural extension of our joy.
Is it in line with our higher intentions in the world?

Or is it a strategy, a covert contract that we have co-signed
that we hope will make us feel a certain way and cover a whole in our center.

The latter is the standard,
however, as we awaken it becomes increasingly meaningless and empty.
And that’s when we start setting and executing in line with our intentions.
We start moving and taking care of our body not to obtain external status and recognition
but because movement is pure joy, when it just feels so good to be in the body.
We start eating as a spiritual practice, we know what foods click with our body,
and at what times, and we learn to nurture the body instead of feeding the mind's impulses.
We learn to enter relationships to magnify the love we are feeling inside ourselves instead of entering from a place of insecurity and emptiness, hoping that our partner will cover that up,
which, in case you haven’t experienced, is a recipe for a rude awakening.
So my invitation to you is to take a situation that produces an iffy feeling inside you and to run it by those two frameworks.
How have you been approaching it?
Is it true?
Is it serving you and those around you?
If not, how can you make a shift?
This is the beginning of it all.
Health is a natural by-product of that state.
If this is not addressed, looking at symptoms is just a short-term solution which is where the entire medical system relies on.
When addressed, not surprisingly, a new quality of being arises and health variables such as blood biomarkers,
either naturally fall into place, or have a much easier time doing so with natural assistance.
That’s it for this one.
Lots of love,
-A
